UMi works on the DG Twin Shield Technology that prevents handsets from display glass breakage after falling. Displays of smartphones with Gorilla Glass support can break.

Dual 2.5D glass is combined with the double-coated foam tape that ensures display quality and viewing angles are not affected, while double coated foam tape helps it to be drop resistant. Though this technology is in its development phase, upcoming UMi smartphones will consist of displays with dual protection.

Furthermore, the company claims that its upcoming gadgets will be the toughest smartphones till date.

UMi DG Twin Shield Technology has many benefits based on longevity and ruggedness. UMi London speculates that it has 1.5-meter drop resistance.

There will be a competition of UMi with Moto X Force when this technology comes out in open.

As per the expectations from this technology, the models are supposed to weigh less than shatterproof layout offered by Moto X Force.

Technological strides in smartphone displays have made manufacturers include various features to attract users.

Manufacturers invest in new technologies that offer ruggedness and reduced manufacturing cost. LG has confirmed that it will increase its investment in OLED technology from this year.

The major reason behind this is rise in demand for this type of displays. Other leading manufacturers that include Apple switch to OLED display panels.

Increase in R&D activities have reduced the manufacturing costs. LCD displays are always a priority for manufacturers, but they are able to figure out economical ways to manufacture OLED displays.

"It's true that we were late in OLED investment for smaller electronics devices compared to that of televisions. It's undeniable that flexible OLEDs are now the mega-trend in the mobile segment and we will have to embrace that," said Han Sang Beom, Chief Executive Officer of LG Display.

"We can't help but rely on LCDs for the time being because our revenue from OLEDs still accounts for less than 10%. We've never thought about giving up LCD, but we are considering gradually closing the older generation fabs."

Samsung's flexible OLED display received an immense appreciation for its curved and fixed EDGE display panels. Many reports suggest that Galaxy S7 EDGE has outsold its flat-screened counterpart by a large margin.

Samsung will launch Samsung Galaxy X, the first folding and flexible OLED smartphone in 2017. Many other firms will implement this technology in their products as consumer demand is high.
