China's Huawei smartphone shipped the most phones for a second straight quarter as Apple dropped a position down to fifth, according to research by International Data Corp.
Huawei's sales grew 22.6% from a year previously to 23.5 million units, said IDC.
Of the top five manufacturers apple was the only brand that saw a decline from the previous quarter.
Huawei has done a good job of branding itself as a 'premium' phone in China with moves such as using Leica, the German high-end camera while not charing a premium price.
Overall smartphone shipments in China were down for the period falling 0.7% from a year ago.
