Chinese Smartphone Foes Head For America

Second-tier American mobile carrier US Mobile announced plans to introduce rival Xiaomi and Meizu smartphones into America.

US Mobile is considering introducing several products, including Hongmi 2, Xiaomi 3, Meizu Note 2, and Xiaomi 4. Hongmi 2 will be reportedly sold at USD119, Xiaomi 3 will be sold at USD139, Meizu Note 2 will be sold at USD149, and Xiaomi 4 will be sold at USD219.

Meanwhile, US Mobile will offer attractive subscription packages. With monthly subscription fees of USD24, users can enjoy 500 minutes call time, 500 free texts, and 500 MB traffic; or with monthly subscription fees of USD37, they can use 2.5GB traffic, unlimited free texting, and 100 minutes call time.

However, those smartphones will not support US Mobile's 4G network.

Xiaomi is trying to develop within the American market. In February 2015, the company held a press conference in San Francisco to introduce its flagship product Xiaomi Note. The company also spent a lot of time in promoting its MIUI operating system.
